Today, I traveled back to SC for one last visit with my family before coming back to Georgia. My grandmother insisted on me seeing her once more before going to GA....and I cant help but say YES to my 'Daisy Bell'!
Outside of reconnecting and spending time with my family, my cousins and I decided to venture to a place that was the center of all of our childhood fears!
Let me further explain the origin of it all....
There was a horror movie, called House, that came out in 1986 and focused on a demon, ghost infested house in a suburban neighborhood.

In addition to the scary movie concept, we had an abandoned white house in the area that resembled the horror movie! Although this movie was a typical 1980s scary movie (which means it's NOT really scary at all), it was enough to scare my cousins and I for years. To make matters worse, our uncles would traumatize us by taking us to the 'House' when we misbehaved!
Even in our adulthood, we always considered the white house up the street as "the House from the movie".
So when I approached my cousins about my idea, we all decided to embark on it together. So we took the short drive from my grandmother's house to the 'House'.
As you can see we got closer then we have ever gotten to this house! I wont post all the pics (just in case we catch a 'trespassing' case!..LOL) however we got a close look at the place that has haunted us for years.
But overall we realized that the very thing that has 'haunted' us, is nothing more then an old, rundown, abandon house! We allowed ourselves, others (and the movie) to build up this 'not so scary' situation into an extremely scary dilemma, that lasted for years. It amazes me how we can hold on to our 'childhood nightmares' (being anything that haunts us, holds us or keeps us from progressing) and allow them to have a continued affect on our lives. Although this is a small case of this, I have to make it a priority to not allow such things to occur in my life.
As I passed the 'House' while heading back to Georgia on Tuesday, I couldnt help but look at the old house differently. It didnt seem soo scary anymore, but it gave me a chuckle as I passed by.
Day 4 Lesson: Embrace and take along the lessons of the past...but leave the nightmares, baggage and constraints there!
On to Day 5:-)
